NEW INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
 DJ Welsh Appointed Interim Public Works Director
The City of Ottawa is pleased to announce the appointment of DJ Welsh as the Interim Director of Public Works, effective December 21, 2024. Mr. Welsh has been serving as Public Works Operations Manager since July 2024, during which his leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in navigating a significant period of operational transition for the department. DJ previously served as Parks Superintendent from April 27, 2015, until his appointment as Public Works Operations Manager.
In his new role as Interim Director, Mr. Welsh will oversee all aspects of the Public Works Department, which provides essential services including street and stormwater management, parks and cemetery operations, and municipal infrastructure projects. His appointment ensures continuity and stability in these critical operations while maintaining the high standards Ottawa residents expect and deserve.
City Manager Brian Silcott stated, "DJ Welsh has demonstrated exceptional performance and dedication in his tenure with the City of Ottawa. His leadership during this transitional period has been invaluable, and I am confident in his ability to guide the department with professionalism and vision as we move forward."
