CALEA ACCREDITED DEPARTMENT
Accredited
The Ottawa Police Department, Ottawa, Kansas is proud to be a CALEA accredited agency. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) was established in 1979 to assist law enforcement agencies in establishing and maintaining high standards of excellence. The Department earned accreditation in 2015, after participating in a multi-year process that included a detailed self-assessment, and participated in an on-site review by a team of CALEA assessors with law enforcement backgrounds. CALEA assessors thoroughly examined all aspects of the Department’s management, operations, policies, procedures and support systems. The community was invited to participate in the process by providing comments and observations. Link to CALEA Award Letter
