BROADBAND PARTNERSHIP ADOPTION GRANT (BPAG)

OTTAWA, December 9, 2020– Richard U. Nienstedt, Ottawa City Manager, delivers laptops to the Library and ECKAN as part of the Broadband Partnership Adoption Grant (BPAG) awarded to the City of Ottawa from the Kansas Department of Commerce.

ECKAN and the Library will be loaning out the laptops to members of the community to increase access to broadband in the area. The goal of the grant is to ensure all citizens are able to utilize high speed broadband regardless of economic status.

The Library received 100 laptops and ECKAN also received 100 laptops that will be available for check-out. Additionally, the City of Ottawa has created protected WIFI networks in certain areas of town which these laptops will be able to access. This program will allow participants to access a laptop and high-speed broadband at no cost to them.
