The community is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony for Proximity Park later this month.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at 2542 Montana Road, Ottawa.

"Proximity Park is going to be a huge asset to both the City of Ottawa and Franklin County," said James Oltman, executive director of the Franklin County Development Council. "It will allow us to be extremely competitive when it comes to business attraction opportunities"

The groundbreaking ceremony is free and open to the public.

"We'd love to see a large crowd of community members attend" Oltman said.

In December 2014, the City of Ottawa, Franklin County and FCDC announced the purchase of 303 acres southeast of Ottawa to be used for a new industrial and business development park. In September 2015, Ottawa residents voted to renew the city's 1/2-cent sales tax, a revenue stream that accounts for about 9 percent of the city's general operating fund, and add an additional 1/2-cent sales tax for economic development.
