Due to a resignation, the City of Ottawa is seeking candidates interested in serving the community as a City Commissioner. Per Kansas Statute and municipal code, the City Commission will appoint a person to fill this vacancy.

 

City Commission – 1 position to fulfill an unexpired term (Regular Meetings are first and third Wednesday each month at 7:00 pm and 9:30 am respectively; Study Sessions are Mondays at 4:00 pm). The City Commission serves as the board of directors of the municipal corporation, in which all municipal powers granted by the Constitution and laws of the state of Kansas are vested. The Commission creates policy through ordinance, resolution and the annual budget process. Applicants must live within the City limits and be a qualified elector. Selected applicant will serve the remainder of the four-year term through January 2018.
